Hi buddies,
I forgot to share my wonderful and amazing outing in my previous post.I totally filled it with my musings.Sorry!!Definitely,I wanna share you the moments and the day I spend in kumbakonam and places around it.Frankly speaking,I love visiting places and love to capture unforgettable moments(Photography!!).One of the inventions in the world that I admire often is the CAMERA.Because,i feel it plays a bigger role in cherishing the happy moments and makes us feel nostalgic.It captures the moments--right from birthday cake cutting to making a new recipe.I'm not a gourmet but still i feel i want to possess some culinary skills.Photography is an art.Some may be interested in taking photographs of nature,wildlife or landscapes,...I think,my heart takes me to a path which is not yet discovered.I wanna proudly say myself as "globetrotter".I really love my nikon coolpix.From my childhood days,while listening to the history classes,i admire deeply about the people who lived in the past and I really love the vedic scripts and the great puranas and the monuments in our country.I was longing to visit such places.My dream came true one day.During my sixth standard summer vacation,along with my family,I visited agra fort,Taj mahal,mathura,kasi and many other forts and temples.
From then onwards,I became a "Heritage enthusiast".I don't know about the steps taken by our government to promote our rich cultural heritage and tourism.I want to share my trip to kumbakonam and request the readers to come along with me.
Chennai-Tambaram-Dec 14-10:30 PM:
As planned,my dad,my sister and I boarded the mannai express at tambaram on DEC 14 at 10:30 PM.After the ticket checking procedure,we positioned ourselves in our berths.I got seat no.55 and my sister was next to me.I tightly tied the scarf in my head and put a thick wollen cloth around my neck to prevent the air gushing against me.We spoke for some time and then slept.I couldn't sleep well.I was frequently disturbed by the lights in the compartment and the people getting inside at each station.I set the alarm at 3:00 AM DEC 15.But,I peeped in to the watch more than four times during my sleep.Atlast,we reached the kumbakonam railway station by 4:00 AM DEC 15.

I expected a very chill,cool and calm atmosphere.I thought my teeth will start typing something unknowingly(I will be frozened).But,I didn't feel any such thing.It was not so cold.We headed towards the first class waiting room.We took bath and we got ready by 5:10 AM and to board a bus we have to walk less than 0.5 km.I thought of taking a cup of coffee in the fresh morning.Unfortunately,it was not ready by that time.So,we boarded the bus to Thirunageswaram(Raghu Bhagavan sthalam).At 5:30 AM we reached the temple.But,the sannadhi was closed.So,by walk,we headed towards oppiliappan temple.The temple's tank(theppakulam) was lightened and was blinking colourfully and we bought flowers(maalai) and offered it to swamy.We were so fortunate to see the gomadha pooja.We got an unforgettable darshan of lord vishnu on saturday.We bought prasadham and ate it.We visited the praharas and took few photographs and walked towards ayyavadi.
While walking,I clicked a few landscapes and nature scenes.I was really amazed by the greenery of the place.It is like a heaven and the place was so cool.

We reached ayyavadi and at around 8:15 AM,the sannadhi was opened and lord prathyankara was beautifully decorated with flowers.At around 8:40 AM we reached thirunageswaram and joined the queue to view the abishekam and pooja for raghu bhagavan.While heading towards the bus stop to reach thirupamburam,we ate few bajjis and vada at the roadside eateries.We waited around 15 minutes and then boarded the bus to karaikal and we got down at karkathi stop at 11:40 AM.Then,we took an auto to thirupamburam which is 3.5 km from karkathi.The landscape was so beautiful and it was greenish with no sounds except the birds and the breezy air.I started longing for such a peaceful atmosphere.I wanna stay there permanently.It is such a wonderful place and it is a real heaven.Those people living in that place are really fortunate.We reached the temple and had nice darshan of the holy deities.we reached the karkathi bus stop at 1:00 PM.We waited there till 01:40 PM to board a bus to kumbakonam.Finally,we reached kumbakonam bus stand by 02:50 PM.We were looking for nice hotels which serve meals at 03:00 PM.Our eyes caught the hanging boards-gauri shankar hotel and vasanta bhavan.We entered vasantha bhavan and had a nice meal.Then,we started towards station to take rest and refresh ourselves.Sharply,at 03:50 PM we left the station and got a bus to thiruvidaimaruthur.I never expected such a big temple and I have never seen such a big temple before.After Thanjai Brahadheeswar temple,I hope it is the next bigger temple and it has a nice history too.We visited all the praharas and the god nandi is very big in this temple.We were astonished by the sculpture work and the architecture of the temple.It is wonderful to look at the art works and the great walls surrounding the sannadhi.Inspite of the prohibition of cameras,We clicked few photos.The temple is a visual treat.
There is a big temple tank and a beautifully decorated elephant.We can see four entrances in this temple.We should not enter and exit through the same entrance to escape from brahmahatti dosham and a nice history and story about a king is said.It was nice.Then,we came out and headed towards the bus stop to reach suriyanar temple.From there,we reached sukkiran temple by hiring an auto and atlast,the auto driver dropped us in aaduthurai.From there,we took a bus to kumbakonam.At around 8:45 PM,we reached the naganathaswamy temple.It was located in the centre of kumbakonam market town and nearby that temple,we saw the big tank"maha maga kulam" .We worshipped lord shiva and the ambal and got a golden opportunity to see the palliyarai sevai and the semi-hot(lukewarm) sweet payasam was distributed as prasadham.
I could see many retired pensioners chatting at the big space at the entrance of the temple.The air was cool and with satisfied mind,we came out of the temple and reached my favourite hotel nearby the station and eat rava dosa with sambar.It just filled my tummy and took a small nap in the waiting room before boarding the train at 11:15 PM.

We slept nicely and it was a pleasant trip and the train sharply pushed its' head in to tambaram railway station at 05:00 AM DEC 16.It is the first day of margazhi month and so we can see people crowded at that time everywhere in bus stand and station.I can clearly hear the devotional songs and bhajans chanted in the temples.We took the bus and reached the home at 05:50 AM DEC 16.I refreshed myself and the day was wonderful.I can't forget this trip in my lifetime.It is an unforgettable pleasant trip and loved it and longing for another such trip.This trip turned me in to a "heritage-addicted" person.
